Beyond Skateboarding, UK

During February 2022, Concrete Jungle Foundation, Free Movement Skateboarding, and SkateboardGB travelled across the UK to better understand and develop social skateboarding. The project coincided with SkateboardGB’s Cruiser Award Programme offering fundamental skateboard tuition to first time skateboarders. During the week long event, the three organisations visited Skate Manchester, Projekts, Bournbrook DIY, Nottingham Trent University and Skate Notts to share experiences in social skateboarding within the UK and worldwide, whilst also teaching CJF’s Edu-Skate Programme to children on school holidays. The week accumulated in a nationwide roundtable discussing diversity and inclusion, mental health and well-being, youth work and protecting old skate spots and building new ones.
